If you`ve got the energy, Jenny, do think about appealing - it`s not right that have turned you down.

Take care,

Hi Jenny,

Before you go down the appeal route, you can ask for a "review" of the decision. In a letter describe how your needs have changed or not since your last DLA decision. It would be good if you could get a letter from a specialist nurse or physiotherapist to support your letter. If the rules have not changed you are entitled to ask for a review of the decision within 14 days of receiving the letter.

I suspect that somewhere in the line of supporting evidence eg a doctor or nurse has failed send their part back or not evidenced your needs probably. You can also ask for a written copy of how they reached their decision.

Love,

Barbara

I realise now, it was me who got it wrong Jenny!
When you said you "got the heave ho" I now realise you mean from work but I took it to mean from the DLA.
Trust me to get the wrong end of the stick!

Anyway, did you keep copies of your previous applications? If you write the same they can't really do anything but give you it.
Good luck with it.

I got high care rate dla when i first was diagnosed with rheumatoid Disease and PBC, i got it for 2 years, even though i was working full-time.
I then had to re apply in 2008, thats when they refused my high care rate, and offered me low care rate. I did appeal and i was then re-instated to high care rate.
I am now a lot worse than i was in 2006, just the nature of the beast i suppose.
The paperwork is changing all the time, so appart from my paranoia, what the heck do i write?
Its bloody well confusing me
Well done Private eye S B .
I am in the process of applying for 3rd time for dla. I have received dla high care rate for the past 4 yrs.
Just bothers me the fact that they need to change the forms all the time.

If you need care day and night then you ought to qualify for Higher Rate Care Jenny.

Hi, this happened to me but with the motability part, I got medium and re-applied and was give low rate, I appealed, my gp got in touch and told them I need to use a wheelchair, finally I had to go to a hearing, which was quite daunting, they said why did I feel that I needed my DLA, I told them that my wheelchair was not a fashion statement, now I get medium rate care and high rate mobility on a long time basis, carry on trying love Kimxx

?? Confused The mobility element of DLA is either low or high, no middle rate.

Although I get high rate mobility, I get only middle for care, although I can't even go to the loo unaided! Mad, isn't it?

Hi Everyone, the whole DLA is beyond me to be honest.
There are times when i can (physically) manage ok, there are times when i can't.
The very 1st time i applied for DLA i got high care rate, and i worked full-time, although i was really debilitated for a period of time.

I was used to filling in DLA forms due to the nature of my job so had a good grasp of the jargon etc.
Now because they change the forms all the time its confusing me.
I have just completed my 3rd DLA form and i filled in every possible space i could, even though i repeated myself constantly.

I dont think i fancy an assesment either so i know what you mean about the hassle.

I will let you know how i get on.

If you qualify for DLA, it doesn't matter if you're working or not.

I applied for DLA back in October and was approved for High rate mobility and middle rate care. I felt the process had gone very smoothly so I find it so frustrating that other people who are so very obviously in need have such a different experience. Is there no consistency at all!?!

What I did do before I started filling in my application was to list all my "complaints". I then noted how each complaint affected me and my life in detail. Lastly I noted how often each complaint arose and how long it lasted. I found the process really quite depressing but it gave me a very clear view of what I needed to get across on the forms and then I included the notes with my application. I don't know if it helped with the decision but it helped me fill out the form.

Good luck to everyone undergoing the process ... it's wrong that it should cause genuine claimants so much stress and anxiety!

Wey hey, got my high care rate of DLA renewed for another 2 yrs.
Apparently i will need to re apply again in 2 yrs time in case the treatment may change the amount of help i need.
